Background/Terrain Artist

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Develop background/terrain assets for an upcoming action game.
  • Must be collaborative in a team-environment.
  • Communicate with junior/mid-level artists to ensure consistent art assets for the project.
  • Proficiency of editing software such as Photoshop, etc…
  • Proficiency of digital art programs such as Clip Studio Paint, SAI Paint Tool and/or GIMP, etc…
  • Game Maker or Unity implementation experience preferred
  • Background experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, OpenOffice, or Google Docs required
  • Background knowledge with cloud computing programs (Dropbox, Google Drive, Plastic SCM and/or Git) preferred
  • Act as a bridge of communication between developers and artists.
  • Able to adapt game design documents into high-level concept art.
  • Adaptable to different art styles.
  • Availability on Saturdays (that is our main work day).
  • Commission-based compensation. One day a week, plus possible additional communication at sporadic times during the week.
  • Familiarity with kanban style task lists preferred (Trello/HackNPlan etc…)


Internships

Game Design Internship (3 months duration)

What you will learn:

  • You will have the opportunity to work on current projects either in development or have been released on platforms such as Steam and Google Play Store.
  • Obtain valuable experience to be the stepping stone to entry level jobs in the AAA game industry or software industry.
  • Get experience in a collaborative close-knit game design team and give input/feedback on the design of game mechanics.
  • Have a say and a voice in current design talks, get experience and confidence in group weekly standup meetings, and credits in our video game projects.
  • Learn popular/industry related development tools (Slack, kanban-styled task boards such as Trello/HackNPlan)

What we can offer you:

  • Internship College Credit
  • Detailed feedback on your performance via traditional evaluation relative to how well you may perform in the industry
  • Letter of Recommendation (dependent on performance)
  • Opportunity to join our permanent team (dependent on performance)

What our requirements/qualifications are:

  • Current junior-college, college students, or recent graduates looking for experience are welcome to apply.
  • Must be collaborative in a team-environment
  • Programming background recommended (High-level or scripting language experience preferred)
  • Game Maker/Unity/C#/RPG Maker experience preferred
  • Background experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, OpenOffice, or Google Docs required
  • Background knowledge with cloud computing programs (Dropbox, Google Drive),  and/or Git preferred
  • Availability on Saturdays (that is our main work day)
